The Faculty of Science is comprised of eight departments (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computational Sciences, Materials Science, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Physics, and Statistics and Applied Probability). There are approximately 3,600 undergraduate and 800 graduate students, 300 teaching staff and 360 researchers, administrative, professional, library and general staff members in this faculty.
The Department of Biological Sciences consists of 46 full time and 11 adjunct academic staff, 20 postdoctoral fellows and 76 supporting and technical staff members, and approximately 1600 undergraduate, 50 Honours-year undergraduate and 160 graduate students. The academic year is divided into two main 17- or 18-week semesters and one special term, with each of the former separated by 7- or 10-week vacation periods
